KNOW THE OILS
From the C.L.E.O. LETTER
by Elaine and Stanley Bytnar, Bailey, CO

"We recently heard that some oil brands are claiming that their oils are pure because they are "absolutes." "Absolutes" is a modern oil extraction method in which plants are immersed or soaked in chemicals. This method is used to obtain oils for use in cosmetics and perfumery. Such oils always contain traces of chemicals and solvents and therefore are NOT suitable for aromatherapy. "

These "absolutes" oils are harmful to the skin and this is why ALL the other companies and users of such oils insist all essential oils have to be used with a carrying oil. Not so with YOUNG LIVING ESSENTIAL OILS because our oils are organically grown and distilled WITHOUT the use of chemicals.

We do NOT have any competition.

Our oils are PURE GRADE A. We need only to use V6 Mixing Oil as a carrier when the oil is extremely warm. Like Cinnamon Bark, or if a person has a fair complexion. We all should develop the habit of testing our skin for the warm oils by putting just a little bit on the side of our neck. And ladies, make sure not to put the essential oils on top of your makeup. One of two things could happen. The chemicals in your makeup could fracture the molecules in the oil and render it useless, or the power of the oil could drive the chemical(s) in the cosmetic right into your skin.

Aromatherapy is an ancient art begun in Egypt 5000 years ago. Aromatherapy is the natural method to care for mind, body and soul using pure essential oils. These oils are extracted from natural botanicals (flowers, trees, herbs, and plants) and are used to calm, balance, and rejuvenate us. Our sense of smell has the longest recall of all the senses yet it is the most underappreciated sense.

The sense of smell affects:

  1. Our emotions and memory (the Limbic System)
  2. The pituitary regulation (Hypothalamus)
  3. The release of hormones and body regulation (Pituitary)
  4. Odor identification (Olfactory Cortex)
  5. The connection to the neocortex (Thalamus)
  6. The intellectual connection (Neocortex)

Ways to use aromatherapy products include:

  • Aesthetic (products used on the skin or scalp, for example an aromatherapy facial)
  • Massage (body care through the sense of touch)
  • Olfactory/Psychological (products to enhance emotional wellness)
  • Therapeutic (products to encourage natural healing)

Scientists agree that essential oils may perform more than one function in living plants. In some cases they seem to be a part of the plant's immune system. In other cases they may simply be end-products of metabolism. Essential oils contain hundreds of organic constituents, including hormones, vitamins and other natural elements that work on many levels. They are 75 to 100 times more concentrated than the oils in dried herbs.

All the countries of the world provide essential oils, making aromatherapy a truly global therapy. Essential oils are the heartbeat of the plant kingdom; and when we really understand that, we realize that this heartbeat is the energy that was created to sustain life.

There are significant differences between synthetic fragrance oils (made possible by recent advances in chemistry) and pure essential oils. Synthetic fragrance oils are produced by blending aromatic chemicals primarily derived from coal tar. These oils may duplicate the smell of the pure botanical, but the complex chemical components of each essential oil created in nature determine its true aromatic benefits. While synthetic fragrance oils are not suitable for aromatherapy they add an approximation of the natural scent to crafts, potpourri, soap and perfume at a fraction of the cost.

To maintain their therapeutic application, Essential Oils must be pure Grade A, organic, and contain no artificial additives or diluting chemicals to insure that the healing and oxygenating molecules are still intact. Many of the Essential Oils available in health food and other stores are not pure enough for therapeutic applications. They are only useful as perfumes and have little or no medicinal qualities.

Processing with low pressure and low temperature are the keys to maintaining the ultimate fragrance and therapeutic value. High pressure, high temperatures, rapid processing and the use of solvents or any other chemical will fracture the oil molecule, destroying the therapeutic value and altering the fragrance. Any chemical combined with an essential oil destroys the effectiveness of the oil's purpose and function.

Aromatherapy practitioners need pure essential oils of the highest quality. Important criteria to consider when selecting essential oils include the following:
100 Percent Pure and Natural
Extraction method (distillation, expression)
Plant part used
The reputation of the company providing the oils
Young Living Essential Oils
TM have been in business for over 8 years

Producing the purest of oils is very costly and may require several hundred or thousand pounds of plants to extract one pound of oil.

  • Lavendula Officinales requires 175-250 pounds to produce one pound of pure lavender oil.
  • 5,000 pounds of rose petals are required to produce one pound of rose oil.
  • Peppermint requires 35-40 pounds of plants to produce one pound of oil.
  • Melissa requires three tons of plants to produce one pound of oil, which sells for $9,000-$15,000.

Diffuse essential oils into the atmosphere for home, office, and work environment protection. The essential oils are dispersed into a micro-mist that stays suspended for several hours to reduce bacteria, fungus, mold and freshen the air with natural fragrances. Diffusing releases oxygenating molecules, and antiseptic properties, as well as negative ions, which kill bacteria.

Young Living offers a diffuser which covers 2,500 square feet (Code # 3800 - $99.00).

When essential oils are diffused in the home, they have the ability to increase the atmospheric oxygen, as they release oxygenating molecules into the atmosphere. Oils increase ozone and negative ions in the home, which inhibit bacteria growth. This prevents and destroys existing odors from mold, cigarettes, animals, etc. Essential oils have the electrical magnetic attraction to fracture the molecular chain of chemicals and take them out of the air, rendering them non-toxic to the body. Scientists in European countries have found that essential oils will bond to metallics and chemicals and carry them out of the body, working as natural chelators, inhibiting these toxic substances from staying in the tissues. Essential oils remove dust particles out of the air and, when diffused in the home, can be the greatest air filtration system. These are all wonderful attributes of essential oils.

To begin enjoying the benefits of essential oils, it is recommended that you start with a diffuser and the Essential 7 kit which contains: Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint, Purification, Joy, Peace & Calming, and Pane Away (Code # 3120 - $59.00).

A complete Wholesale Price List containing the single oils and the oil blends distilled by Young Living, and supplements, hair, toothpaste and skin care products is mailed with each order. This list also includes business promotional aids and literature.

Once you start diffusing, you'll enjoy an "essential difference" in your environment!

Young Living offers a complete line of Essential Oils, Nutritional Supplements, Herbal Teas, Body Maintenance Program, and Personal Care Products.

Young Living combines the most advanced technology in the development of health care products. A Synergistic Suspension Isolation Technique separates the antagonistic and synergistic vitamins and herbs. This prevents the vitamins and minerals from cancelling out each other while in the tablet. A Zein Coating, derived from corn and the single amino acid, L-phenylaline, provides faster conversion and assimilation of nutrients in the digestive system. The Essential Oils are added into all of our food supplements which infuses the oils as flavoring agents, enhances the nutrient activity and oxygen within the formula.

It is important to note that there is no universal cure for disease. Each body is slightly different, and may respond to Essential Oils differently. Many people have similar, very positive results when using Essential Oils. At Young Living, we offer no guarantees what the results will be in your situation. We strongly hope, however, that you will enjoy many benefits as thousands have, for thousands of years, by using Essential Oils.
